KASSON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -

Authorities say a 58-year-old hunter has died after apparently falling from a tree stand in Michigan's northwestern Lower Peninsula.

The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports Donald Joseph Peplinski of Maple City apparently fell Friday night from the tree stand in Leelanau County's Kasson Township, about 15 miles northwest of Traverse City.

He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Leelanau County sheriff's department says Peplinski's death is considered an accident. It's under investigation.
