DETROIT – Autopsies have been completed on two women found dead Monday in the trunk of one of their vehicles in Detroit. The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office says the cause of death will not be determined for about two weeks. No trauma was found on either victim.
Demesha Hunt, 24, and her cousin Ranisha Landers, 23, told family members they were going to the Blackberry Bar and Grille Saturday night. When they failed to return home, relatives alerted police.
"I reported her missing because that's not like her. She has a baby. She would have called home," said Hunt's mother Denise Reid.
The bodies were discovered in a Chrysler 300 which Landers had recently purchased. It was parked in an alley between vacant houses on Detroit's East Side.
Hunt graduated from Henry Ford High School and recently worked at a Tim Horton's in Southfield. Landers graduated from West Side Academy. Family members say she worked at a Chrysler plant in Sterling Heights.
"It's crazy because you would have never thought it would happen to her," said Nerissa Ingram, a friend of Landers. Ingram also knew Hunt.
"They were always together. If they came together they left together. They were together all the time."
