Detroit Police are investigating a deadly fire that claimed the life of a little girl Saturday morning.
Flames erupted at a home near Promenade and Annsbury on the city's east side around 1 a.m.
The Wayne County Medical Examiner tells Local 4 that a 10-month-old girl was pulled from the home. She was taken to the hospital where it was confirmed by the Medical Examiner that she did not survive.
Neighbor Andre Maxwell placed a stuffed animal memento on the porch of the burned out house.
"When I woke up had to come out of the house and see if it was really real," Maxwell said.
The baby's family lived on the first floor of the house.
Andre Maxwell was there as the baby's mother arrived at the home to see the damage and learn her daughter had been taken to a hospital.
"She as in tears, she was really hurt, you know, to leave and come back and learn your baby's gone. That's terrible," Maxwell said.
Police are investigating the child's death.
The American Red Cross is currently assisting the residents of the home.
