Chesterfield Township man charged with stealing from neighbors
Police say 'self-described' heroin addict admitted to burglarizing homes on his street
A Chesterfield Township man is charged with stealing from several of his own neighbors.
Police said residents in the Salt Meadows subdivision on Zachary and Tom drives, began reporting daytime break-ins at their homes in September.
While investigating the string of break-ins on Friday, police said they were called again to the same area for a burglary alarm and a woman who said she heard someone in her kitchen.
Police said their investigation lead them to the home of 30-year-old Dennis Doan on Zachary Drive, who admitted he was responsible for Friday’s break-ins and the previous ones in the neighborhood.
Police called Doan a “self-described” heroin addict. He was also found in possession of a stolen credit card from one of his neighbors.
He is charged with multiples counts of home invasion, uttering and publishing and possession of a stolen credit card.
