LANSING, Mich. -

A clay art sculpture worth an estimated $28,000 on display along the Grand River in downtown Lansing has been knocked over and destroyed.

The Lansing State Journal reported Tuesday, "Meditation Tower" by Williamston artist Mark Chatterley was part of an outdoor exhibition by the Lansing Art Gallery.

The shattered sculpture was spotted Monday and it's unclear when it was vandalized

Chatterley said he spend more than an hour Tuesday cleaning up the debris from his sculpture.

The sculpture was part of the "Art by the River" display that runs through Aug. 30th and it was insured.

Authorities are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the prosecution of the vandal or vandals.
