SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -

Southfield police have arrested a man they said is accused of carjacking three women at gunpoint Monday night and leading police on a chase.

Police said the women, a 57-year-old, 33-year-old and 74-year-old, were in a car on Grodan Drive when a man pointed a handgun at them and ordered them out of the car.

The suspect then took off with the 2002 Toyota Corolla, which also had the victims' purses in it, police said.

Officers caught up with the man a few minutes later in the area of Lahser and Fenkell in Detroit, but he led them on a chase until he jumped out of the car and tried to run away.

Police said an officer used a Taser on the suspect and he was arrested.

The car, purses a handgun were recovered.
