Ken Rieberger has lived on Detroit’s west side for more than a year. But after returning from a business trip early Monday morning, Ken came home to shock of his life.
“Everything is gone,” said Rieberger.
His home on Braille Street was broken into, but not only was everything stolen, his two most prized possessions were in the way of the bad guys.
“I came home around 1:40 a.m. to my babies, my two pit bulls, bleeding in my home,” said Rieberger.
Ken’s two pit bulls, Tank and Zena, were both shot when the home was broken into.
Tank was killed but Zena was still breathing.
Ken rushed Zena to Animal Emergency Care in Novi, where she was treated for a gun shot wound.

“They stole my guns and killed my dog, I don’t feel safe anymore,” Ken said.
Ken tells Local 4 it took more than an hour for Detroit police to respond to his 911 call.
The dog has been released from hospital and was given antibiotics for pain, but may require more surgery.
