Detroit's former deputy mayor has been charged with having a loaded gun at Detroit Metro Airport.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced Wednesday that Adams been charged with Possession of a Weapon in a Sterile Area of the Airport, a one year misdemeanor. On October 18, 2012, at approximately 6:58 p.m. Adams was in the McNamara Airport Terminal in Romulus.
That's where a loaded handgun was allegedly found in his carry-on bag as it passed through a security x-ray machine.
Adams is scheduled to be in court for a pre-trial hearing on Thursday, November 29.
Adams served as deputy mayor under Kwame Kilpatrick. He also served as the president of the school board for Detroit Public Schools until he resigned in 2011.
