Authorities say a 34-year-old man has been charged following the death of a 1-year-old boy he was babysitting in an Ypsilanti Township home.
The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office said Chase Miller died Sunday morning after being rushed to St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor Hospital.
Deputies responded to a 911 call at a home in the 1100 block of Fall River about a child possibly choking. When authorities arrived, the Miller wasn't breathing and CPR was administered by deputies. Attempts to resuscitate him didn't work.
An investigation revealed that Miller died from blunt force trauma to the head and that his babysitter at the time, Michael Curtiss, was responsible.
Curtiss is charged with felony murder and first-degree child abuse.
He is being held without bail.
