DETROIT -

Olivia Pryor was 18 years old.

She graduated with honors from Detroit's King High School and was at Michigan State University studying journalism.

Her parents got a phone call they still can't believe.

Her father said she graduated in 2011 as summa cum laude at King. She thrived on hard work in school. She grew up in a tough neighborhood in Detroit but got herself into Michigan State.

She was found dead Monday morning in her Hubbard Hall dorm room.

"MSU police got a call from a student that her roommate was unresponsive ... alcohol related," said Michigan State Police Sgt. Florence Taylor.

However, Pryor's father and uncle tell Local 4 that she never drank alcohol.

Her father is angry. He is distraught like any parent would be. He said he will not say anything until a full investigation into his daughter's death is complete. Funeral plans are on hold. An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.

Meanwhile, it is clear she was loved and will be missed.

Her father is direct, saying he wants to know if his daughter died after drinking too much and not understanding the power of alcohol. However, he also raises the possibility that someone could have slipped something into a drink she was having.
