GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -

Justice is on a road trip as the Michigan Supreme Court hears a case in Grand Rapids.

The court occasionally meets around the state to hear cases and give the public a glimpse without having to travel to Lansing. As many as 200 high school students are expected Thursday at Gerald R. Ford Museum.

The Supreme Court is handling a case from Muskegon County. The issue is whether Kurtis Minch could assign a large collection of firearms to his mother after he pleaded guilty to illegally possessing a sawed-off shotgun. The prosecutor didn't request to have the weapons seized.

A Muskegon county judge and the state appeals court say the guns can go to Minch's mother. The Supreme Court will have the final say.
