Michigan man accused of impregnating 11-year-old pleads guilty

Trevaun Brooks faces life in prison for first-degree criminal sexual conduct charge

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – A 29-year-old Michigan man who authorities say sexually assaulted and impregnated a girlfriend's 11-year-old daughter has pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Trevaun C. Brooks of Warren made the plea Tuesday on the day he was schedule to go on trial in Macomb County Circuit Court. Court records say he also pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Judge Mary Chrzanowski scheduled his sentencing for Sept. 27. The first-degree criminal sexual conduct charge carries a penalty of at least 25 years in prison because of the victim's age.

The girl gave birth Aug. 9, 2011, at a Macomb County hospital.

DNA confirmed that Brooks was the father after an investigation by police.

Police said Brooks was in a relationship with the girl's mother and had lived with them.

Brooks previously worked as a janitor at a Mt. Clemens school.
