TYRONE TWP., Mich. -

The Livingston County Sheriff's Office has said the report of a shot fired on US-23 near White Lake Road in Tyrone Township was not related to the so-called roadway shooter.

Local 4 has learned the shot was fired by a police officer who was putting down an injured deer.

Drivers along the US-23 corridor have been on high alert since October 16, when the first roadway shooting was reporting. Since that time a total of 24 incidents involving shots fired at cars or people have been reported in Oakland, Ingham, Livingston and Shiawassee counties.

More than 100 full-time investigators are working to find the suspect.

Investigators say they received more than 2,000 tips since the reward for information leading to an arrest of the shooter was raised to $102,000.

The task force reminded citizens to remain vigilant and reporting information to 800-SPEAK-UP.
