Warren police say they believe speed and alcohol may have been factors in a violent crash early Tuesday morning that has left the driver paralyzed.
Police said witnesses told them a car was driving at a high rate of speed westbound on 12 Mile Road when it lost control near Schoenherr just after 2 a.m., rolling several times, hitting parked cars and slamming into a pole. The force caused the car to rip in half. Car parts are all scattered every where in the area, along with broken glass all over the roadways.
Police said the 24-year-old Warren man who was driving the car was thrown from it and engulfed in flames from the crash. He is in critical condition, suffering fractures, broken bones, burns and internal injuries. His name is not being released.
