No violence tolerated at Westland Summer Festival Wednesday

New, strict rules aimed to keep festival-goers safe

The City of Westland wants to make sure residents and visitors know the rules have changed for this year's Summer Festival.

In expectation of thousands coming to enjoy the festival, Wade Shows, Westland City Administration, City Council and Westland Police Department have met to discuss their zero tolerance policy.

"The Westland Police Department is working in cooperation with Wade Shows to ensure the public's safety. Several changes and security enhancements have been put into place for this year's event. The security goal of this year's festival will be to keep it a family event. The Westland Police Department is prepared for, and will maintain, a zero tolerance approach with anyone who causes a disruption,: stated Police Chief Jeff Jedrusik.

People who break the rules will be required to leave the property and will be banned from the property for life.

The festival opens Wednesday, July 3, at 4 p.m. and runs through Sunday, July 7. It is held at Westland City Hall grounds, located at 36601 Ford Road.
