I-275 reopened in both directions after summer-long construction

DETROIT – Northbound I-275 reopened Tuesday night from I-96/M-14 to I-96/I-696/ M-5.

The M-5 east and west ramps through interchange will remain closed until mid-September.

Additional work will close lanes and ramps, but will be limited to off-peak times whenever possible, through fall 2016.

The southbound lanes reopened in July. Here's a look at traffic flowing in both directions Wednesday morning:

The $75 million dollar project replaced nearly 88 miles of concrete pavement on I-275. In addition to repairs on the main highway roads, the project also included shoulder work on I-275, concrete repairs on I-696 and repairs on all ramps and 16 bridges. The project also focused on drainage improvements and intelligent transportation systems (ITS) work.
