The prosecutor says Dunlap's girlfriend was away for less than an hour while he struck the child multiple times on the head, torso and legs, and held a lighter to the child's skin causing burns on his chest, palm, thumb and wrist.

Dunlap was arraigned Thursday in Plymouth's 35th District Court. He faces torture, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, child abuse in the first degree, and assault and battery charges.

He could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
