Oakland County Sheriff's Office: Child playing with matches started apartment fire in Pontiac

No one was hurt in blaze that broke out on Newman Lane

PONTIAC, Mich. – The Oakland County Sheriff's Office says a child playing with matches is what started a fire Monday in an apartment in Pontiac.

No one was hurt in the fire, which broke out in the 600 block of Newman Lane, just north of University Drive.

Firefighters at the scene said the flames had started in a bedroom and spread to the attic.

Three apartment units were damaged.
