Off-duty Detroit police officer's gun goes off, kills woman

24-year-old Adaisha Miller killed after officer's gun discharges during party

DETROIT – According to police sources, 25-year-old Adaisha Miller positioned herself behind the officer at a fish fry and was dancing - either bending over or on her knees reaching for the officer's belt when the gun went off.  Adaisha's mother yolanda mcnair isn't buying any of it.

"It's not making any sense what they're telling me doesn't make any sense. The story keeps changing so I am not buying any of it."

Detroit police sources close to the investigation tell Local 4 that Miller showed up intoxicated to the fish fry with a couple of friends. They knew the officer from the neighborhood.  At the party, this source says, Adaisha was dancing all around quite heartily - not an exotic dance as a print report claims. The officer's wife was right there when it happened. For some unknown reason Miller reached for the officer's waist and somehow the trigger on his service weapon pulled and Adaisha, who may have been on her knees or bending down, wound up shot in the chest.

"She's either standing one way, or another she's in one place or another ya know it's constantly changing so I can't take what they're saying for granted I can't take that as the truth. I know somebody out there knows and I wish to God they would step forward and tell us why and how."

Local 4 was told the officer was given a breath test at the scene and was not drunk.
