SOUTHFILED, Mich. – The officer who was injured in the Veterans Day shoot-out at the Southfield Police Department was released from the hospital on Tuesday.
Police declined to release the name of the officer who has asked for privacy while healing.

The officer was shot in the shoulder on Sunday after 64-year-old Herald Joseph Collins walked into the station and started firing.
He was listed in stable condition and said to be in good spirits while he recovered.
The officer and several others had ordered Collins to drop his weapon before he was shot and killed by police.

Collins was a divorced military veteran with no prior criminal history.
Family members said Collins suffered from health issues that effected his ability to communicate, causing the Southfield man frustration.
Collins filed for bankruptcy in 2004.
Police say Collins suffered from, "internal issues."
The investigation is still on-going.
