2009: The Illinois Senate votes unanimously to remove Gov. Rod Blagojevich from office following his arrest the month before on several corruption charges, including allegations of trying to trade the U.S. senate seat once held by President Barack Obama for financial and political gain. He was eventually convicted on 17 counts and sentenced to 14 years in prison in 2011.
