Topps

1970: Tom Dempsey of the New Orleans Saints sets a NFL record for the longest field goal, kicking a 63-yarder that gives the Saints a 19-17 win over the Detroit Lions at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans. Although the record still stands today, it was equaled three times: by Jason Elam of the Denver Broncos on Oct. 25, 1998; by Sebastian Janikowski of the Oakland Raiders on Sept, 12, 2011; and by David Akers of the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 9, 2012.
