1965: Hockey Hall of Fame goalie Patrick Roy, who led the Montreal Canadiens and the Colorado Avalanche to two Stanley Cup titles each and is generally considered one of the best NHL goalies of all time, is born in Quebec City, Canada. He is the only player in NHL history to win the Conn Smythe Trophy (awarded to the most valuable player in the Stanley Cup playoffs) three times, in different decades, and for two different teams.
