One dead in stoplight shooting

Car went through I-96 railing to escape shooter

DETROIT – One man is dead after being shot from another car while waiting at the stoplight at Grand River and Jeffries Service Drive.

A vehicle with two men was stopped at the stoplight when another vehicle pulled up and started shooting at them. In order to escape from the shooter, the driver crashed the car through the railing and onto westbound I-96 going in the opposite direction.

There was a Detroit Police Department car nearby, and that officer stopped the car and traffic on I-96 before anyone else was hurt.

The second man in the vehicle was transported to the hospital and is expected to recover.

DPD is looking for a black Sedan, either an Audi or a Lexus. It's still unsure whether the victims knew the suspects or if this incident was a random act or road rage.
