An outdoor power equipment company wants to Mow Down Hunger in the Detroit area.
Weingartz is working with Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan on the annual campaign to feed hungry children.
They want to raise 1 million meals between this week and Oct. 7. Weingartz will match all donations to reach the goal.
Mow Down Hunger campaign proceeds will support Gleaners' BackPack and Mobile Pantry programs.
The BackPack program distributes backpacks filled with nutritious food for the weekend. And each Mobile Pantry distribution provides about 200 households with 50 pounds of nonperishable food, produce and protein.
Last year's Mow Down Hunger campaign raised $310,000 and provided nearly 1 million meals to feed hungry children.
