DETROIT – The Detroit Historic District Commission approved a plan to demolish the Park Avenue Hotel and rehabilitate the Hotel Eddystone at the site where a new Detroit Red Wings arena is expected to be built.
The vote was approved on Wednesday night.

This decision has delayed the proposed plan to build the new arena downtown. The two historic hotels are on the site where Olympia Development of Michigan planned to build a loading dock for the arena.
