Person hit, killed by Amtrak train in Royal Oak

Police don't immediately release details on victim

ROYAL OAK, Mich. – A person was hit and killed Wednesday morning by an Amtrak train on the tracks near Catalpa Drive and Maxwell Avenue in Royal Oak. 

Police say officers located a deceased individual after responding to a call about an accident involving a southbound Amtrak train and a pedestrian.  

The body was found on the railroad tracks near Catalpa drive. 

The Royal Oak Police Criminal Investigation Division, Oakland County Sheriff accident investigators and CN Railroad police are still investigating the incident. 

Catalpa will remain closed at Maxwell until the investigation is complete, and no further information will become available until the individual is identified and the family is notified. 

The Wolverine Line train 351 was en route to Chicago when it stopped because of the incident at about 6 a.m.
