His foot was freed from beneath the crane and he was transported to an area hospital. The extent of his injuries has not been made available, but it's likely a non-life-threatening injury.
"It was pretty normal for us to extricate him from there, it was like removing somebody from a car. We just had to be cautious of the water," said St. Clair Shores Fire Battalion Chief Walt Jenuine. "He had a his foot pinched. We were able to extricate him. He was in good spirits, joking that he had the rest of the day off."
The crane flipped over, landing on a docked tugboat and was partially submerged in the water. There is no word on whether there were any passengers on the tugboat.
Several pieces of heavy machinery were brought in to help up-right the crane. The process could take several hours.
