Photos show alcohol on boat before deadly crash near Harsens Island

HARSENS ISLAND, Mich. – It was a horrible boating accident near Harsens Island which left two people dead and seriously injured several others.

The Local 4 Defenders have obtained new photos showing beer and champagne all over one of the boat -- the boat which allegedly caused the wreck.

Lauren Keitz's stepfather was killed and her mother remains severely injured.

"She was on a ventilator after the accident for about two weeks with punctured lungs. Her whole rib cage was compromised. She's had seven ribs replaced with screws and pins," said Keitz.

Investigators say the driver of the boat which caused the crash had a blood alcohol level of .10. He has a history of drinking and driving issues on the road. Charged have not been field yet while the case remains under review.

No matter what happens criminally, legal action already is being taken.

"Your whole life changes. Everything you know and trust is ripped away from you, and it all could have been prevented," said Keitz.

Police are still talking with witnesses. A charging decision is expected soon.
