Police believe body found is of missing 19-year-old man

Nathan Alan Tracy went missing Wednesday after a crash in Pittsfield Township

PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Pittsfield Township police have found a body who they believe is of a 19-year-old man who was reported missing after leaving the scene of a hit-and-run Wednesday.

Police said a witness told them Nathan Alan Tracy, from Trenton, stopped briefly for a crash at Oak Valley Drive and Ranchero Drive before walking away.

The body was found in a retention pond Saturday at the Weatherstone Condos at Valley Drive and Weatherstone Drive. Police believe it is Tracy but have not been able to positively identify the body.

An autopsy is scheduled to take place on Sunday. Cause of death is unknown at this time.

Police do believe Tracy was under the influence of something at the time of the crash.

Tracy's former gymnast coach speaks out

Kelly Cook is owner of Downriver Gymnastics. she coached Nathan Tracy starting at the age of 3.

"He was a great kid from a great family. Your All-American kid," said Cook.

Nathan Grew into a seasoned gymnast and later coached at Downriver Gymnastics.

"My heart breaks. My heart breaks for his mom and his sister."
