Police catch 2 teens in connection to stolen car spree

Teens were caught in stolen Charger in Inkster

INKSTER, Mich. – Wayne County officers caught two teens trying to flee in a stolen car Tuesday near Glenwood Street and Magnolia Drive in Inkster.

The teens were spotted by road patrol officers at around 3:30 p.m. Police tried to stop the stolen Charger in a traffic stop but the driver took off and drove through several streets before veering into a field and bumping into a pole near Palmer Street and Middlebelt Road.

Police say the teens tried to run from the car on foot, but officers caught them. The 18-year-old man driving the car was taken into custody. His license is suspended and he's wanted for probation and retail fraud.

A 13-year-old girl was also detained. She will likely be turned over to parents or a guardian, police say.

There were no injuries reported in the incident. Charges are pending.
