Police: Drunk man steals chalice from Dearborn church

21-year-old man accused of entering First Baptist Church, stealing gold communion chalice

DEARBORN, Mich. – Dearborn police arrested a 21-year-old man Sunday night who, they say, stole a golden communion chalice from the First Baptist Church on Nowlin Street.

Devin Labuda went into the church, stole the chalice and then was spotted apparently intoxicated at a gas station near Michigan Avenue and Mason Street, police say.

Labuda, of Dearborn, was arrested and is charged with unlawful entry.

The chalice has been returned to the church pastor.
