Saturday morning Allen Park police said 32-year-old Danielle Greenway's tan 2005 GMC Safari with Michigan license plate No. 7JCM9 had been located. This comes after the bodies of Greenway and 42-year-old Chris Hall were found Tuesday in the Detroit River near Alter Road and Riverview.
Police said Greenway's van was used to transport the bodies. Police tell Local 4 they can't release where the vehicle was found.
Detroit and Allen Park police held a joint news conference Friday afternoon to address the two homicide cases which led investigators to a home in Allen Park.
Allen Park police confirmed a search warrant was being executed Thursday night at a house on Anne Street near Allen Road.
Police said Friday a man was in custody for his connection to the murders. The 39-year-old man had been living with Hall and Greenway at the Allen Park home. Allen Park police have been searching the home where the two lived on Anne Street.
"She was a very sweet young lady," said Elena Polocoseri, who lives next door. "Young couple. They just moved in a year ... a year an a half ago."
Police sources told Local 4 Hall and Greenway were shot to death and likely killed inside their home before being brought to the river. They were last seen alive last week.
"It was very disgusting," said Richard Dolliver, who lives across the street. "Whoever did this really should be ... I mean, I wish we had the death penalty because that's really disgusting."
Detroit police believed the couple was targeted by someone they knew.
"Someone obviously had a bone to pick with these two people, and wanted to send a message," said Detroit Police Commander Steve Dolunt.
The remains were taken to the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office.
Had police and the Coast Guard on shore and in boats walked a few hundred yards up river where some men were fishing, they would have also found some key evidence.
A fisherman looked into the water and found legs, arms, a head and at least one power saw, possibly two power saws or saw parts in the water.
"We left because there wasn't a crime scene." Dolunt said.
