PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - A former Eastern Michigan University math instructor is being held on an open murder charge after police found the body of his wife in their home.
Pittsfield Township police say Katherine Porter, 53, was stabbed multiple times. Her 44-year-old husband Jean Pierre Trias was arrested at the home when the body was discovered Friday afternoon.
Officers went to the address on Hickory Pointe Boulevard after an unnamed person called and asked them to check on Porter.
Trias wrote on his Linked In page that he is Coordinator of Mathematics, Tutoring and Testing at Eastern Michigan.
A University spokesperson says that job ended two years ago.
He said Trias was also a part time math lecturer as recently as last month, but wasn't teaching this semester.
Police have not commented on a motive.
They say facial scratches visible in the defendant's mug shot were already present when they arrested him.

Katherine Porter worked for the last 13 years at Advantage Computing Systems in Ann Arbor. A spokesperson calls her a "valued employee who will be missed personally and professionally."
Neighbors say the couple had no children.
Trias is being held without bond.
