YPSILANTI, Mich. – Police in Ypsilanti released a sketch of a possible suspect in the beating of a woman who says she was targeted because of her sexual orientation.
The woman recently married to her same-sex partner. That fact may have motivated the three men who attacked her Monday evening after she got off a bus and was walking through the parking lot of Roundtree Apartments in Ypsilanti.
Washtenaw County Sheriff's department spokesman Derrick Jackson said the attackers made anti-lesbian comments, before beating her.
"They made some explicit comments to her about her sexual identity. She gets hit in the face, knocked unconscious and she is shortly awakened being kicked and punched," Jackson said.
Police now have a sketch of what one of the possible suspects may look like. The sketch comes with the description of a white man standing about 5 feet 10 or 11 inches tall. He is described as heavy or obese and in his mid 20s.
