Police layoffs hit the City of Inkster

Layoffs take effect Monday

INKSTER, Mich. – Police layoffs are taking effect in the City of Inkster Monday.

Sources tell Local 4 a dozen police officers will be off the job because of money troubles in the city.  Fourteen officers would have been laid off, but two officers have already resigned.

In addition, 4 civilian police department employees will be laid off and the department's records office will be only just 1 day a week.

Recently the state reviewed Inkster's finances and the city submitted a five-year deficit reduction plan to the state.
