STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. -

A 54-year-old Sterling Heights man was killed Saturday morning after pulling a gun on officers, forcing them to shoot him, police said.

At around 6:50 a.m., Sterling Heights officers responded to a 911 call coming from the 37000 block of Lola Drive near 16.5 Mile and Dodge Park Road.

The call was from a juvenile resident regarding a domestic assault incident between his mother and father.

Police said when officers arrived and entered the home, the man pulled out a long gun.

An officer fired his duty weapon and hit the man. He was taken to Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in an ambulance, but was pronounced dead.

The investigation of this incident has been turned over to Michigan State Police.
