DEARBORN, Mich. -

Two men are in custody for the suspected armed robbery of a 36-year-woman on Friday.

The victim says she was on her cell phone near a Henry Ford Community College parking lot when a Dodge Caravan pulled up to her.

A man armed with a handgun jumped out of the van and robbed the victim of her purse and cell phone.

The suspect jumped back into the van and the driver fled the scene. Dearborn and Detroit officers pursued the van into Detroit.

The suspect and driver then ditched the van and ran away on foot.

One of the men was carrying a handgun.

He turned toward officers and began to raise his weapon when confronted, police say.

Subsequently, the men were apprehended without incident.

Police are now looking at whether the suspects committed similar crimes earlier that day in Detroit.

Douglas Eugene Sampson, 27, of Detroit and Ralph Brantley, 25, and also of Detroit, were arraigned on several charges Monday including: armed robbery, possession of a weapon by a felon and fleeing police.
