DETROIT -

The Detroit Police Department released composite sketches of three possible suspects in the Wednesday shooting and carjacking at a CVS store on the city's West side that left one security guard dead, and a mother traumatized.

"I haven't had any sleep. My mind just keeps rewinding what happened," she said. "It was very terrifying."

The woman didn't want her identity revealed but said Wednesday night turned out to be the scariest night of her life. She just came to the CVS Pharmacy on Schaefer and 6 Mile to pick up a prescription. She left her 6-year-old son and her older cousin in the car.

"I came back out to my car and noticed two gunmen at my car ordering my cousin and son to get out of the vehicle," she said.

The woman said she began to scream at the top of her lungs.

"OMG, I need help. Someone please help save my son and my cousin," she said.

Desperate to save her son, the woman put her hands up while going toward the carjackers, but one of the men drew his gun.

"I thought they were gonna shoot me. Thought my life was gone," the woman said. "Looking at my son and seeing him terrified like that, I didn't know what was coming next."

That's when the brave security guard, Courtney Meeks, came running out of the store to the mother's rescue.

"The look that he gave me on his face was just a brave look like, 'I got this.' I guess I was just calling out my son, my son and he just reacted quickly to what I was saying."

Surveillance video shows the little boy and the other woman running to safety, then the gunshots ring out, the carjackers striking officer Meeks, killing him.

"I just felt totally devastated after that. I just couldn't believe it, what had happened," the woman said.

This woman said for the rest of her life she'll be grateful for the man who put his life on the line for her family.

"I just want to thank him so much for saving me, my son and my cousin," she said. "It's so sad what happened to him. My heart and prayers go out to him and his family."

These are the sketches of the three suspects:

Suspect #1 is a black male, 17-18 years old, small frame (like a child), medium brown complexion, clean shaven, wearing a dark grey hoodie coat (like a quilted fabric), dark-colored shoes (acted like the leader) armed with a BS handgun.

Suspect #2 is a black male, 18 years old, about 5'6", small frame (like a child), medium brown complexion, clean shaven, wearing a leather two-tone colored coat (the top was a burnt orange, the bottom was like a khaki, sandy-brown color with a black design separating the two colors), with a charcoal-grey hoodie underneath, dark-colored shoes, and armed with a BS handgun.

Suspect #3 is a black male, 18 years old, about 5'6", small frame (like a child), medium brown complexion (slightly darker than the other two suspects), clean shaven, wearing a dark tan hoodie coat and dark-colored shoes, armed with a silver handgun.
