CLEVELAND -

Amanda Berry Gina DeJesus Michelle Knight The Cleveland police report states the women were chained and locked in the basement but eventually freed and allowed to live upstairs on the second floor.

They were let outside twice in 10 years, only in the backyard, and they had to wear wigs and sunglasses and keep their heads down. Investigators say all three women became Ariel Castro's sex slaves.

Amanda Berry was forced to have her baby in a plastic swimming pool. According to the police report, Michelle Knight delivered the baby. She told detectives Castro told her that if the baby died he would kill her.

At one point the baby stopped breathing. The report says Knight "breathed into her mouth and breathed for her to keep her alive." Neither the child nor the mother ever were allowed to see a doctor.

While Berry gave birth to her daughter, now 6 years old, Knight was pregnant five times. She told police Castro "starved her for at least two weeks and repeatedly punched her in the stomach until she miscarried."

Gina DeJesus told detectives she did not think she ever became pregnant.

The women would one day see the light of day because, on Monday, things changed when Castro left the house but forgot to lock the inside door.

Berry couldn't get the second door unlocked, so she just started screaming for help. Finally, help arrived.

According to the police report, when police arrived at the home they went to the basement and then the second floor. That's where they found Knight. She was having chest pains and hardly could breathe.

Knight fell into the officer's arms. Police say DeJesus jumped into an officer's arms.

The 10-year terror ended. The accused captor is imprisoned himself.

Castro will go before a judge on Thursday. He faces four counts of kidnapping and three counts of rape. His two brothers are in police custody but will be released Thursday morning.

The prosecutor says no evidence shows Ariel Castro's brothers had any knowledge of the crimes.
