HAMTRAMCK, Mich. – A 78-year-old woman was carjacked and robbed in Hamtramck by men who then robbed another woman in Warren, police said.
The men are still on the loose, which means police are staying tight-lipped about the investigation, but police did release some information.
The overnight crimes began around 11 p.m. at the corner of Holmes and Fleming streets in Hamtramck, where a 78-year-old woman was robbed and carjacked.
Police said two men stopped her after she parked and started walking to her daughter's home. Her daughter said they wanted money, but all she had was the keys to her black Honda Civic, so they took that.
Six and a half hours later, police believe the same men robbed a nurse at gunpoint as she was walking into work at Michigan Surgical Hospital in Warren.
Neither police department has much of a description of the men, but the crimes are connected because of the same motive and it's believed the men were in the same stolen black Honda Civic.
Both women are OK. The 78-year-old is a Polish immigrant, and her daughter said she's still pretty scared. The other woman is a little shaken up by the incident.
