Police: Suspect in custody after 6-year-old boy shot at Detroit home

DETROIT – Police said a suspect has been taken into custody in connection to the shooting of a 6-year-old boy Sunday night at a home on Rosemont Avenue

The was rushed to a hospital after he was shot at the home on Detroit’s west side. Officers said the child was in the home, located near the Southfield Freeway, with a man and a woman when another woman visited.

Police believe that woman’s ex-husband then showed up and opened fire into the home, hitting the 6-year-old.

The child is listed as stable.

"The child did have gunshot wounds to his extremities, but he was alive and alert in the ambulance," said Detroit police Cpt. Darrin Szilagy. "He's doing well and being very, very brave."
