LYON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -

Three shoppers were entering the Wal-Mart at 30729 Lyon Center Drive Thursday night when they were approached by a teen holding a handgun and demanding money.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the teen showed the gun when he reached the victims and was apparently "waving" it around. He told them that he needed the money to pay someone back for drugs, and added that if he didn't get the money, some people were going to shoot up his neighborhood with AK-47s.

The female victim convinced the suspect that they would go into the store, get money from the ATM and then return to him. Upon entering the store, she called 911 while the suspect waited out front.

When police arrived, the teen ran away on foot. A short chase took place before he was captured and taken into custody by Oakland County Sheriff's deputies.

The weapon used in the incident was recovered and identified as an Umarex CO2 pistol.
