DETROIT – Voters in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties passed a .2 millage Tuesday in support of the Detroit Institute of Arts.
The millage won by less than 1,500 votes in Macomb County. It won by a large margin in both Wayne and Oakland counties.
The tax increase will cost the average homeowner about $15 a year. Before going on the ballot, the DIA had made cuts but still faced a big deficit.
The new funding will go toward keeping up day-to-day operations.
Those who were against the millage said those in support should fund the DIA alone.
