Port Huron - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations at the Blue Water Bridge has arrested a citizen of Gambia for illegal possession of a firearm and counterfeit immigration documents.
On April 24, CBP Officers encountered the male, 49, as he was returning to the U.S after being denied entry into Canada. He admitted to the CBP Officers that he has been living and working illegally in the U.S.
The CBP Officers uncovered a 12-gauge shotgun, ammunition, a counterfeit U.S. Visa, and a counterfeit U.S. permanent residence card upon inspection of the individual's vehicle.
"This case demonstrates our officers' commitment and diligence in preventing weapons and people with counterfeit documents from entering the United States," said Port Director David Dusellier.
At this time, the subject is in custody awaiting prosecution by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
