"The 30-second ad will air during the Super Bowl in metro Detroit and run during a week-long media campaign," said Jessup.

Howze declared her candidacy in Feb. 2012 and said she has focused her campaign on helping to end crime and fix the city's finances. She said she will focus the first 100 days of her administration on revenue generating activities.

"It will take teamwork and collaboration of concerned residents, churches, business leaders, unions, city employees and government to bring Detroit back to greatness," said Howze. "While one person alone cannot turn the city around, I humbly accept the responsibility to lead this team effort and create the vision for a better Detroit."

Howze will be the first mayoral candidate to run ads this year. She looks to become the first female mayor in Detroit's history.
