Flashpoint: Dingell, Levin join Devin from nation's capital

Officials talk about issues in U.S. government

DETROIT – Devin Scillian took to the nation's capital for this week's episode of Flashpoint to talk about the state of our country's government.

Two titans in Capitol Hill joined Devin for the first segment, as democrats representative John Dingell and senator Carl Levin sat down for Sunday's edition of Flashpoint.

Both Dingell and Levin are leaving Capitol Hill after their nearly 100 combined years of service. Devin talked to them about the change in their lives and the increasing frustration with the way things are going in the government.

"We are frustrated, everybody in the country is frustrated," Dingell said. "Congress is not working and the people here are incapable of making it go. It's a real great shame because the country is being hurt."

Levin chimed in about the blocking of legislation that he believes shouldn't be taking place, as well as other major issues that face Washington D.C. amid his departure.

After the break, Dingell led off the second segment by talking about some of the issues facing the government in the near future. He cited losing members like Levin and other experienced officials as reasons that the direction of the government needs to make improvements.

Levin and Dingell went on to talk about what they think about what needs to be fixed in the government.
