Flashpoint: Tom Lewand talks Lions, Super Bowl

DETROIT – Flashpoint brought in February with a look at Sunday's Super Bowl matchup between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks. Super Sunday is one of the few days in the year when the entire country's focus comes together on one event, whether it's the game, commercials or halftime show drawing in the crowd.

Devin Scillian sat down with Detroit Lions President Tom Lewand to talk about how the Lions' season ended in the first round of the playoffs against Dallas. Lewand said the team certainly expected to advance in the postseason, but has moved on from the devastating loss and is focused on the 2015 season.

"We're still a growing team," Lewand said. "And we grew a lot this year. As coach Caldwell said we had a good season, not a great season, and I think that the growth that guys experienced this year, we're ready to have a great season next year."

Lewand addressed the growing problems with officiating in the NFL, and how it takes attention away from the product on the field.

Finally, Devin asked the team president about free agent Ndamukong Suh. Lewand said he believes Suh wants to be a member of the Lions. He said he has so much invested in the city of Detroit that the star defensive tackle would like to return.

In the second segment, Nolan Finley of the Detroit News and Stephen Henderson of the Detroit Free Press joined Devin on the panel.

The panel talked about the revival of Detroit and what role race plays in the movement. Finley said many people make the decision to move out of the downtown area and live in the suburbs.
