"Detroit's emergence from bankruptcy is critically important to Michigan's future," said Plunkett Cooney President and CEO Henry B. Cooney, chair of the 2014 Conference. "Kevyn Orr's perspective on how to put Detroit on a sustainable path must be central to this statewide discussion about Michigan's global competitiveness."

Just months before his expected departure this fall, Orr will give insight into the short and long-term vision for Detroit's sustained growth, as well as the blueprint it provides for municipalities around the nation facing similar challenges.

Orr is part of a speaker lineup that includes: Jim Clifton, chairman and CEO, Gallup Inc.; author, "The Coming Jobs War;" Mike Duggan, mayor, city of Detroit; Malcolm Gladwell, author, "David and Goliath;" Joel Klein, CEO, Educational Division, News Corporation; former chancellor, New York City Department of Education; and Rick Snyder, governor, state of Michigan.
