Gladwell will discuss his latest book, and its message about overcoming obstacles with thought-provoking educational and entrepreneurial examples. The five time best-selling author will apply these lessons to Detroit and Michigan in the globalized world.

In "David and Goliath," Gladwell challenges the conventional wisdom that being disadvantaged is always a disadvantage in the quest to achieve success – in other words, underdog status can be an asset. It's a theme likely to resonate with the audience from southeast Michigan gathered at Mackinac.
